Avery is a retired Naval Officer. He has been a Financial Advisor for 3 years, and joined Merrill Lynch in 2008. He lives in Washington county in the city of Beaverton, and is active in the The City Club of Portland, The African American Chamber of Commerce,The Southridge Youth Football League,The Black United Fund of Oregon, and he is President of The Portland Roundtable, a business networking group. He enjoys camping, hiking and giving back to the community through volunteer service.
